Almost there, May 3

We camped free at Lake Murray State Park in Oklahoma, and again at the city campground in Three Rivers Texas (watch out for the gators). We intended to pay, but nobody was around to take our money. Instead, we poured it into the beast, which purred along on highways with a speed limit of 85. It is scary to exceed that maximum, but we just managed; it appeared to obviate the need for speedtraps. Hardly saw a cop.

We took to the 'back' roads to avoid the interstate wind and ennui. Speed limit a paltry 65. Some pleasant old German Towns, quaint and neat, but mostly dying. We will slow down our pace some more when we enter Mexico.

I'm sitting in the McAllen WalMart, only five miles from the border. If the truck traffic south is any indication, we will be able to find free WalMart WiFi throughout central America.

So far, so good. We are feeling great.
